Using sketches Rietveld made in 1961, his partner Van Tricht built this secondary school some years after Rietveld's death, as with the Van Gogh Museum. Consisting of several classroom wings, one wing of gymnasiums and a somewhat detached triangular main assembly hall, the school sits on the edge of a sliver of green, its abstract black and white facades contrasting starkly with the surroundings. The original glass front has been replaced by the present one. A largely sunken timber extension adds new classrooms and study areas.
