Comparable in terms of material and parti with its better-known Amsterdam counterpart, the main block of this academy is divided into two unequal parts by the entrance, lobby and stairtower. Added to these downstairs is a main hall cum after-school room along the short side with staff rooms above; the long side contains the classrooms. The structure on the roof contains a classroom for model drawing; the kinked low-rise is given over to workshops. The building proceeds from a grid of 2.1 m. clearly expressed in the facade. It was faithfully renovated by Henket, who also designed the later underground extension housing the ArtEZ School of Dance.
