Buildings for education
Built in Noord-Brabant in the 1960s by the Amsterdam architect Sier van Rhijn, these two remarkable schools were almost entirely overlooked by architectural commentators and historians at the time. The chunky brutalist concrete structures are heavily indebted to Le Corbusier's work of that time. The two schools are an assemblage of discrete functional elements including a cylindrical assembly hall and burly blocks of classrooms. Circulation is largely by way of a system of broad corridors on the first floor.
