The dedicated bus lane of the Zuidtangent with its distinctive stopping points stitches together Haarlem, Hoofddorp, Schiphol and Amsterdam. At the junction for regional bus services in front of the new Spaarne Hospital stands a bus station resembling a Fred Flintstone house. The 50 metre long fluid form contains a sheltered area for waiting passengers, some seats and a small room for bus drivers at the western extremity. This blob deviates by being constructed not of the customary rectangular panels but of solid polystyrene foam. Its form was carved from blocks of 4 x 1.25 x 1.25 metres which were then glued together and finished with a coat of clear polyester resin.
