Abutting a converted mess hall from the former army barracks, this auditorium and foyer for a concert and dance venue occupy their own organically shaped volume. The auditorium is constructed as a hermetic double dome to meet the exacting acoustic demands. Its inner envelope is finished with wood strips and suspended from the outer envelope, an integrated structure of steel and concrete with a copper plating finish. The space between the two skins varies in width and serves as both circulation space and a foyer. Its two entrances, a huge sliding door for the loading bay and an upward-rotating door for visitors, merge imperceptibly into the overall skin when closed.
