Kromhout designed this warehouse with a live-in unit on a wedge-shaped site in the Rotterdam docks. It was built for W.B. Diepeveen & Co., a company dealing in ironware. Though the premises had to be simple and functional and cheap black cinder bricks were used, the design does include a 30 metre high advertising tower. Visible from both the road and the water, this tower displays the company name in white letters on blue tiles and has become something of a landmark. Though it does effectively point up the corner, the hefty tower will always be at odds with the rest of the building.
