This works building which packs offices, locker rooms and a canteen onto a small footprint, slots perfectly into its surroundings in terms of design. Its functions are housed in an elongated volume, making the building long enough to act as a garden wall to the busy road accessing the district and screen from view the muddle of wharf buildings beyond. This garden-wall guise has been achieved in part by dressing the frontage in flagstones alternating with large areas of glass. Seen from the wharf, the prevailing feature is the glass canteen set beneath a jutting Miesian roof plane.
The building is demolished in 2006 and replaced by a new one by the same architects.
