On a site where land and water meet, Rietveld used traditional materials to build a house whose organic form, based on curves both in plan and roof, seems fused with its natural surroundings. Its interior betrays Rietveld's love of the simple life. The living room is divided by an upper half-level of bedrooms on the south side into a tall dining space and, half hidden behind the fireplace, a low-ceilinged sitting area.
