Dudok Schools

With a Z-shaped plan comprising gymnasium, two central layers of classrooms, and a service wing with recreation room, this school exemplifies Dudok's utterly original synthesis of Traditionalism and Amsterdam School architecture with elements of De Stijl and Functionalism. Using a careful balance of cubist masses, horizontals and verticals, large-scale elements, and details, plane and line, the composition -particularly at the entrance with tower- has an almost sculptural quality.
