Its futuristic shape and tectonic bravura all point to the building's function, an exhibition pavilion for technological discoveries and Philips products. The Evoluon consists of a dish held aloft by 12 V-shaped supports and covered with a shell roof. Both shell and dish are 35 metres in diameter and assembled from precast concrete elements. The exhibition area occupies three encircling platforms with a lift and ventilation shafts in the central space. These day the Evoluon serves as a conference centre.
