This ‘postmodernist parody of an Old Dutch country seat on the river Vecht’ is known in the village as ‘the crematorium’ because of the chimneys. The strictly symmetrical building has a green copper roof with four tall chimneys on either side. It was designed by Michael Graves on Mart van Schijndel’s advice, as the American architect had already enlarged a typical Dutch building form for the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in The Hague.
