This waste incineration plant crouches in the landscape like some gigantic insect (a dung beetle perhaps?). Its indefinable, angular form of some 200 metres long, 80 metres wide and 45 metres high is clad with metallic green aluminium panels. Maurice Nio deliberately chose not to house this industrial process in anonymous sheds but lend it an identity and expression of its own. Mounted on the entrance gate is a screen designed by the artist Gerald van der Kaap showing images of the incineration process. The complex was expanded in 2003 with a battery of offices.
