The Philips complex of factory and office buildings, most of which is the work of the architect Dirk Roosenburg, dominates the cityscape west of the centre of Eindhoven. Roosenburg was Philips' in-house architect from 1919 to 1962 and was responsible for over 40 Philips buildings, not just corporate buildings but also a concerthall, housing, a swimming-pool and the Radio Monument (1936) in the park to the south (Stadswandelpark). A stand-out feature is his 48 metre high ED building, dubbed 'the lighthouse' as Philips lamps used to be tested on its uppermost storeys.
