This workers' housing complex, set up with capital from the legacy of a family of shipowners, is together with Agneta Park in Delft one of the most striking examples of 'philanthropic' housing. The 50 traditionally built dwellings are combined in groups of two and four into freestanding villa-like buildings sited in a park in English landscape style whose principal elements are a fancifully-shaped ornamental lake and a circular open space later provided with a sundial.
