PRIVATE HOUSE BARENDSEN
M. DE KLERK, -1923, Oosteinderweg 215, Aalsmeer
ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE):
Michel de Klerk
INTERIOR ARCHITECT:
Margaret Staal-Kropholler
BUILDING TYPE:
Freestanding houses
In this house for a flower producer all the major spaces are sited on the ground floor, the living room at the front and bedrooms and kitchen behind, all grouped round a central vestibule. As the entrance is at the side, the front facade is graced with a magnificent window band that turns both corners. This and the asymmetrical chimney, one side of which is in fact a continuation of the pitched roof of the barn at the back, are the most sculptural features of the house.
