This theatre for the Twente region has a main auditorium seating 822, a smaller auditorium seating 400 and a film theatre with 200 seats. The two lesser auditoria share a rectangular volume, with the main auditorium and fly tower housed in an eye-catching cylindrical portion. The great height of the main space allows the acoustics to be modified to suit the occasion, whether this be an opera or a monologue. All seats have the same viewing conditions thanks to the shell shape. Foyers ranged around the auditorium feed into the central foyer, sited where the two building portions converge. The cylinder, assembled from concrete shells, is faced with stucco; the tall glass panels at the foyer are held in a structure of metal slats.
