This extension on Westermarkt adds a new main entrance, offices for the Anne Frank Foundation and public facilities including a shop and restaurant to the existing Anne Frank House on Prinsengracht. The House and Annexe have been restored as closely as possible to their original state. A light court reinstates the original difference between the front main section and the Annexe. The new extension includes a number of single bedroom flats on the upper storeys. Both proportions and materials - brick combined with steel and glass - identify the new-build as such, yet accord wonderfully well with the surrounding historic buildings.
