This apartment building is one of three superblocks breaking the monotony of the low-rise on the Borneo and Sporenburg peninsulas. Its rectangular volume is shaped so that all units receive adequate daylight. The corners are lifted into space to create entry zones. Otherwise the block admits to the strictest subdivision. The zinc-clad outer walls vibrate with an intricate rhythm of identical window frames and sun lounges. The inner walls by contrast alternate the zinc cladding panels with horizontal timber-clad galleries. West 8 designed the courtyard garden.
