Extension to Parliament

Three interlinked premises - Plein 23 (the Amsterdam Lodging House), and a former depot and its attendant service building belonging to the General State Archives - have been partly restored, partly refurbished and partly extended. The combined space is now used for the permanent storage of parliamentary enquiries and some 300 extra workplaces for the Lower Chamber. The new enquiry hall stands in a former courtyard. Plein 23's diminutive neighbour was demolished and replaced by a new glass entrance building with a tiny office block hovering above it. From this entrance, a route leads past new offices to the parliamentary enquiry hall. In the depot, the archive cabinets have been left largely intact; transparent office spaces have been added along its edges.
