This school mediates between the scale of the district and that of the square on which it stands. The streetside facades are dressed with thin-jointed textured brick, so that even the projecting elements exhibit a taut unbroken surface. The wall overlooking the schoolyard by contrast is of wood; on this side there are two open-air classrooms linked to the yard by a timber stair. The infant classrooms are on the ground floor and have their own entrance; the older pupils occupy the two upper floors. A sliding door joins the ground-floor playroom to the main hall from where a broad, gently rising staircase leads to the double-height glass-roofed hall upstairs.
