Courthouse Lelystad

Unlike Dam’s courthouse the premises of the child welfare council have a particularly informal character due to their facade of Siberian larchwood treated with ecoleum, an environmentally friendly substitute for carbolineum. The upper storey floors spiral up round a core, an effect expressed by the glazing in the facade. This route through the building is largely executed in wood, with walls, floors and furniture seeming to spill one into the other. The staff cafeteria is configured as five gigantic stair treads.
