When Carel Henny was director of 'De Nederlanden van 1845', this insurance company was one of Berlage's most important patrons. After the latter's death Dudok worked for them on a number of projects. In this office building he applied his characteristic themes and use of colour and material in an objective manner befitting the commission. The reinforced concrete skeleton has a cladding of pale yellow glazed tiles, giving an agreeable colour combination with the adjoining public gardens.
