ARCAM
R.H. VAN ZUUK, 1999-2003, Prins Hendrikkade 600, Amsterdam
The Amsterdam Centre for Architecture or ARCAM launched its activities in 1986. In 2003 the exhibition space on Waterlooplein made way for a new modern pavilion whose succinct folded form more than makes up for its size among its hefty neighbours. Evolving out of studies into form, its roof and wall planes combine as a single surface of Kalzip, an aluminium cladding system, with glass for the areas left open. Inside, all spaces cluster around a central core and are stitched together by voids.
