Teylers Museum
The transparent pavilion designed in the garden of the Netherlands’ oldest museum not only had to treat the existing monumental building with due respect but also spare the old garden as far as possible. Teylers is a museum suffused with natural light, a theme the new portion treats seriously in controlling and where necessary excluding daylight. Detailing in the pavilion is in wood, brass and glass (materials deriving from the old scientific instruments in the museum), its refinement a reflection of the skill and workmanship on show inside.
