Masterplan Almere-Centrum
This block of apartments was one of the first designs on site in Almere's new city centre masterplanned by OMA. The 18-storey tower stands at the water's edge atop a basement parking facility. The twisted Z of the sculptural aluminium-clad building derives from the fact that most people prefer living at the top or bottom of a tower rather than in the middle, which consequently has less volume here. The size of window reflects the floor surface area of the dwelling unit in question.
