Dating from the 1960s, Utrecht's University campus 'De Uithof' had long been denounced for its piecemeal planning and ineffective architecture. OMA's masterplan sought a more compact solution and the Netherlands' architectural elite was enlisted to design various new buildings for it. Since then, the new Uithof has steadily grown into a showcase of Dutch 1990s architecture, with projects like the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1115" class="inline_link">Minnaert Building by Neutelings Riedijk, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1021" class="inline_link">Educatorium by OMA, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1541" class="inline_link">Basket Bar by NL Architects, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1542" class="inline_link">University Library by Wiel Arets, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1020" class="inline_link">School of Economics and Management by Mecanoo, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/2237" class="inline_link">Ronald McDonaldhuis by Bosch Haslett, the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1470" class="inline_link">Student Accommodation by Rudy Uytenhaak and the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/2051" class="inline_link">Total Energy Plant by Liesbeth van der Pol.
