This house has been extended in two phases since the 1970s. Living room and bedroom occupy a wing of their own. A third of the original house, including the kitchen, workroom and guest rooms, was replaced in 2002 by new-build designed by Guus Baneke and Casper van der Hoeven. This ostensibly imperforate volume alongside a busy main road is kept naturally lit through rooflights and a light shaft. Its facades are of anthracite-coloured brickwork in a layer-cake pattern.
