This state training school for midwives, an elegant building designed by Johannes Vrijman, state architect for educational buildings, was occupied for years by a magistrate's court. When this moved house to Kop van Zuid in 1996 a steel and glass volume added at the front in 1970 was removed, restoring the original U-shaped configuration round a courtyard. The building's original exterior has been reinstated; its interior now contains 35 apartments of varying size. These are exceptionally tall, having a floor-to-floor height of about four metres on the lower storeys and almost six metres on the storey below the pitched roof. The courtyard is back in its original state save for the parking facility below it and a new fence incorporating a glass noise barrier.
