The traditional characteristics of the Amsterdam canal houses have here been worked up into a refined spatial facade using modern materials and a modern formal syntax. The streetside elevation has a double front. The foremost facade of concrete elements leans forward slightly so that the space between the two facade layers increases with height. Above the two-storey apartment are a further three of one storey each.
