Extension to Parliament
Three interlinked premises - Plein 23 (the Amsterdam Lodging House), and a former depot and its attendant service building belonging to the General State Archives - have been partly restored, partly refurbished and partly extended. The combined space is now used for the permanent storage of parliamentary enquiries and some 300 extra workplaces for the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/902" class="inline_link">Lower Chamber. The new enquiry hall stands in a former courtyard. Plein 23's diminutive neighbour was demolished and replaced by a new glass entrance building with a tiny office block hovering above it. From this entrance, a route leads past new offices to the parliamentary enquiry hall. In the depot, the archive cabinets have been left largely intact; transparent office spaces have been added along its edges.
