POLICE STATION ALMERE-HAVEN
OMA, 1984-1986, Bivak 1, Almere-Haven
The programme of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture's first realised building was elaborated in rows behind a taut front facade of blue glazed brick. A broad corridor behind this facade is separated by a glazed partition from open office space and a centrally placed inner garden. Then comes a row of small, enclosed interrogation rooms and service spaces, next a narrow corridor, and finally cells and offices at the rear. On the roof on either side of a void to the inner garden are a canteen and extra offices.
