NOLLEN PROJECT
R.W. VAN DE WINT, 1981-2006, Professor Van Tilweg, Den Helder
From 1980 until his death in 2008 the artist Rudy van de Wint worked on the Nollen project, in which art, architecture and landscape are welded along highly personal lines into a single entity. An assemblage of shelters on a neglected stretch of duneland serves as the basis for large mural paintings. One converted shelter has a glass roof and murals in transparent oils. A newly built butterfly-shaped shelter (Vergilius) contains a white and a black space, likewise serving as grounds for paintings which explore the contrast between colour on a white and a black background.
