Two white rendered, severely ordered buildings are so set on a rectangular site as to create space for a public entrance square and an enclosed courtyard. Black frames, glass block, untreated concrete, white rendering and much thought given to daylight penetration give the whole an ascetic character. In the simultaneously realized Lamens pharmacy on Oranjeplein, Arets utilizes the unique translucent character of glass block to the full by erecting all inner walls in this material.
