This hospital is typical of Kromhout's expressive brick architecture, particularly the exuberant central portion. It originally had 72 beds on offer, symmetrically divided over wards left and right of the central entrance zone. This monumental part has stained-glass round-arch windows and is crowned by two recessed brick corner turrets and a clock. The turrets serve as ventilator shafts for the sickbays and their required height was Kromhout's alibi to intensify 'the architectural quality of the central volume'.
