Built on the site of the former Vitesse football stadium, this residential area follows the existing difference in height on site with a sequence of rising terraces. The area’s central portion is of row houses in parallel blocks, with smaller linked units along the edges. The terraces consist of gabions or wire baskets filled with boulders; these are carried through in places as the facade planes of Vera Yanovshtchinsky’s row houses. Most remarkable of all are six apartment buildings by Meyer & Van Schooten which alternate between running parallel to the street and meeting it at 45 degrees. Their facades are largely of printed glass panels.
