Kloosterboer's own house is a converted prefab concrete shed, wedged between a busy road and a canal. Two square patios hewn from the old shed volume constitute an entry zone and a waterside terrace. Semi-transparent sliding doors spanned with stainless steel mesh separate the streetside patio from the road. The floor has been raised one metre to give a view of the adjoining meadowland over the roofs of the cars driving by. The basic plan of the house is all but symmetrical, with bedrooms and studies on both sides of the large main space and storage units lining the two side walls.
