Behind the stately facades of this competition-winning design is the head office of the Hoogovens steel empire. Its structure alone is of steel; facades are tiled with their windows set flush to facilitate cleaning. The monumental gateway accommodates three glazed corridors. The unusual solution of a steel truss above the building's main entrance is to ensure that light is spread evenly throughout the drawing office.
