Flood Barrier Maeslant
Built at the same time as the https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/668" class="inline_link">flood barrier in the New Waterway, the one across the Hartel Canal has two semicircular gates of unequal size slung in elliptically-shaped lifting towers. The existing flood gate (Hartelsluis) was modified to accommodate the new barrier, with new sluice gates and a strikingly designed service building being added.
