The premises of the State Service for Archaeological Investigation consist of a renovated seminar complex expanded with a number of ‘houses’ each with its own department and separated by ‘lanes’. A large open space roofed by a glass dome serves as a square. In this way the intricate urban fabric of the old inner city is drawn right into the building. This is one of the few examples of structuralist architecture to successfully accommodate itself to what is a complex urban setting.
