Michiel Brinkman received commissions for both https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/1897" class="inline_link">De Maas steam-driven flour mill, this Elevator House and a https://www.architectureguide.nl/project/item/prj_id/2333" class="inline_link">holiday residence in Drenthe from J. van Dusseldorp, non-executive chairman of a grain elevator company (Graan Elevator Maatschappij). The almost symmetrical building deviates only in having the main entrance at the side. Otherwise, the facade is classically disposed with a stone basement, a rigorously ordered brick wall and a cornice, the whole terminating in a hipped roof. In the centre of the roof plane is a semicircular stone relief by Bernard Richters with a symbolic impression of what went on inside. The building was equipped with what in those days were the most modern amenities including a lift and central heating.
