REFORMED HOFLAAN CHURCH ROTTERDAM
A. ROODENBURG, -1841, Hoflaan 1, Rotterdam
The 'Reformed Hoflaan church' is a Neoclassicist design by the Hague architect Arend Roodenburg (1804-1884). The brick building boasts an imposing Doric temple front in rendered brick and wood instead of stone. Its interior is white rendered and includes Ionic pilasters. In 1909 the church was extended with a roofed promenade and several meeting rooms. The building as a whole is a so-called Waterstaatskerk, a church designed under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Water Management. It was restored in 1990.
