ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE):
Jacobus Pieter Stok Wzn.
Jan Kanters
BUILDING TYPE:
Industrial and public-utility buildings
For many years the Santos warehouse with its six storeys and a surface area of 1140 m2 was the biggest and most modern warehouse in Rotterdam. Commissioned by the Blaauwhoedenveem company, it was originally built to store the Santos coffee brand from Brazil. The building has a structure of riveted cast-iron columns and wood floors on the upper storeys. The four winch drums above the vertical rows of doors have been removed and the gap later filled in by continuing the parapet.
