Van Tijen, given this commission 'because he could build so cheaply', did indeed come up with a simple and effectively constructed building. The ensemble is in three components: stalls on the north side, twin houses on the south side and in-between these the riding school itself. This consists of a double-height dressage area with tiers of seating along one of its long sides, and a glazed foyer and club room with the changing rooms and tack room below.
