This urban ensemble consisting of two distinct configurations flanking a traffic-free neighbourhood square, replaces two dilapidated perimeter blocks. The whole has a clarity of organization about it that belies the high accommodation density. Four V-shaped towers of eight storeys above a plinth of storage space stand along Afrikaanderplein. Across the square are four less-tall blocks set breadthways and linked in pairs by a smaller intermediary block.
