This housing project comprises one row each of apartment buildings, single-family houses and self-build plots. Five architects each contributed a part that runs counter to this division into rows. The main focus of attention is the quintet of three- and four-storey housing blocks atop a sunken parking facility. Each block has a central courtyard off which are the entrances. The buildings stand literally on islands; the water is an essential component of this scheme at what is one of the lowest points in Rotterdam.
