This sturdy housing block stands on the site of a former coal storage depot, part of whose remaining walls has been worked into the basement. The architecture nods to the site’s industrial past. There are 110 dwellings in the stepped, recessive building, ranging from studio apartments on the ground floor to penthouses on the top level. All units are reached by lifts and stairs in five internal wells and boast broad conservatories on the south side. On the north side of the central courtyard are two small conventional industrial buildings in a garden court atop a half-sunken parking basement.
