This pentagonal, more or less closed housing block follows the existing building line. Its 88 dwelling units are packed densely around a semi-public internal court. Here, too, are the staircases and a few small access galleries; on the ground floor are five shops along an arcade. The plasticity of the front is 'not a question of form but sterns from such functional considerations as orientation, light penetration, and utility of the interior.'
