Built in phases, this housing project replaced warehouses of the type gradually disappearing from Amsterdam. Small blocks, at right angles to the main access, are linked by low-rise volumes. The use of concrete block, semi-circular staircases, flat roofs and a rhythmic structure of balconies, small access galleries and maisonettes produced an architecture that deviates from standard urban redevelopment practice.
