Occupying a sharp corner of an existing block is this pair of volumes which just fail to meet. The narrow split between the two contains a continuous straight stair mainly serving the units in the short block. The inequality of the two blocks is brought out further by the difference in external materials. The broad flats in the long component can be variously arranged internally and are reached by stairs rising from porches on the inward-facing side. A slightly rotated precast concrete beam on concrete posts divides the units into two halves, and is able to receive partitions at the occupant’s discretion.
