This ensemble has been anchored in exemplary fashion in the old city. The comb-like structure, with Sijzenbaan serving as its backbone, responds adequately to its immediate environment. A shopping arcade on the south side forms a functional link with the city centre. The undulating basic form, the sophisticated composition of floor plans and painstaking detail, but most of all the fact that a large percentage of the houses is provided with a double-height semicircular conservatory, elevate this social housing far above the average.
